THE WIND AND THE SUN
One day, the wind, who has boasting how powerful and forceful he was, challenged the sun to a competition. “You see that little girl walking her dog?” he howled. “The winner is the one who can get her cardigan off the quickest.”
The wind had the firs turn, and blew and blew, but the girl stood under a tree for shelter and wrapped the cardigan tightly around herself. Eventually the disappointed wind had to give up, exhausted.
Now it was the Sun’s turn she shone brightly and it soon became very hot.It was so hot that the little girl took her cardigan off.
“I must apologise”, said the wind, admitting defeat “I was so strong and forceful, but it was your kindness that won.”
MORAL: It is sometimes easier to achieve your aim by kindness rather than by force
