The Enemy - Desmond Bagley

On a party Malcolm Jaggard “a marketing research consultant” meets Penny Ashton who works as a genetics researcher. He invites her to an evening in the theatre, and she accepts. And they start to see each other more and more; she invites him over to meet her father at about the time he was thinking about inviting her to meet his father. The first weekend on the country estate is a success, and they just repeat it the next weekend.

Then someone throws acid into Penny's sister's face, her name is Gilli. This shocks their father more than anyone expected, and he simply disappears, together with Benson, the butler.

In the agency's computer he discovers the existence of a file about Penny's father, George Ashton, and his butler, but that file of the butler disappears. George Ashton's file reveals his original identity, which is a mathematics and physics Russian, a fact his daughters are not aware of either.

Malcolm alerts his superior about the disappearance of a computer file and an entire team starts to reconstruct what happened. Jaggard an Inspector Crammon capture the people who threw the acid, but they didn’t find tracks about anything or anyone. Ashton appearance in Stockholm- makes even less sense. Jaggard finds that the true enemy is much closer to home.

This thriller novel is exciting and since you read the first line you couldn’t stop. I think that is a good story because the main character is always looking forward to the next event and has deployment of situations from only one that become interesting and fundamental in this book. I recommend this boobk because is a espionage story which catch all your attention.
